A family-operated convenience store in Southern California experienced significant losses and damage over the weekend after dozens of individuals ransacked the establishment during a large street takeover event.
A-Z Market, located in the city of Bellflower within southeast Los Angeles County, became the target of a brazen burglary amidst the chaotic gathering.
According to information from a community fundraiser established for the affected family, the perpetrators "used power tools to break through our front window and security gate."
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department reported that surveillance footage captured three initial suspects employing tools to shatter the storefront window and disable a security gate lock. This initial breach then enabled an estimated 40 additional individuals to flood into the store, looting it for approximately two minutes before dispersing back into the larger street gathering.
The family confirmed that the incident resulted in approximately $30,000 in financial losses, encompassing both stolen merchandise and property damage.

While authorities issued multiple citations related to the illegal street takeover, no arrests were immediately made in connection with the burglary. Deputies on site were reportedly unable to directly link any individuals present at the scene to the break-in itself.
Recent Surge in Group Thefts
This incident follows closely on the heels of another large-scale theft just days prior. In East Los Angeles, an estimated 26 suspects allegedly executed a coordinated, mob-style burglary at a different retail establishment.
The earlier incident involved an AutoZone store, where thieves reportedly caused significant damage and substantial losses. Investigators are examining whether the same group of suspects may have targeted the AutoZone location on two consecutive days.
