An MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter belonging to the U.S. Navy executed an emergency water landing in the Arabian Sea during the early hours of Wednesday, leaving one crew member unaccounted for. The aircraft was assigned to the USS George H.W. Bush aircraft carrier when the incident occurred.
The event took place at approximately 3:30 a.m. ET, as confirmed by the U.S. 5th Fleet. Out of the four individuals on board the helicopter, three were successfully rescued and are currently reported to be in stable condition aboard the George H.W. Bush.
Naval assets within the region have launched extensive search and rescue operations to locate the remaining crew member. The identity of the missing individual has not yet been publicly disclosed.
Military officials have stated that there is no indication at this time that the emergency landing was caused by any hostile activity. The precise cause of the incident remains under investigation.
