Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie Suggests "Trumpcare" Label for Affordable Care Act

Representative Thomas Massie, a Kentucky Republican, recently voiced strong criticism of former President Donald Trump and fellow Republican lawmakers regarding the Affordable Care Act (ACA), commonly known as Obamacare. On Wednesday, Massie suggested that the health care legislation could now appropriately be referred to as "Trumpcare."

"Might as well call it Trumpcare now. Our party has made no serious effort to repeal Obamacare and legalize affordable health insurance after taking control of the House, Senate & White House," Massie stated in a social media post. "Why? Because the current system enriches insurance and hospital companies."

Following his remarks, a social media user questioned the congressman, asking, "How can things get done without votes. Is trump able to do something on his own?"

Massie responded by asserting that the former president has "endorsed literally every Republican who wants to keep Obamacare."

In May, Massie was defeated in the Republican primary for Kentucky's 4th Congressional District. He lost to Ed Gallrein, a former Navy SEAL who received an endorsement from former President Trump. Massie has represented the 4th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives since late 2012.
