In a statement, park management confirmed that "The guests were transported to a local hospital for further evaluation," though specific details about their identities or current conditions have not been released.
The incident coincided with a severe thunderstorm warning issued by the National Weather Service for the broader metro Atlanta region as powerful storms traversed the area Sunday evening.
Eyewitness accounts and social media posts provided a glimpse into the chaotic scene following the incident. A video widely shared on Facebook depicted numerous emergency vehicles, including fire trucks and ambulances, gathered at the park's entrance. First responders were visible amidst several fallen trees and large branches.
The individual who shared the video described what began as "a relaxing day at Six Flags" abruptly interrupted by the storm, noting the tree struck near the exit walkway as patrons were departing the park. The user also expressed well wishes, writing, "Prayers for the people that were hurt."
