The residence of Philadelphia Eagles standout Saquon Barkley in Pennsylvania was reportedly burglarized in the early hours of Saturday, according to law enforcement authorities.
Officers from Tredyffrin Township were dispatched to Barkley's Malvern-area home around 5:10 a.m. after receiving a call about a burglary actively underway.
Police confirmed that Barkley and his family members sustained no injuries. However, officials did not disclose whether the athlete or his relatives were present within the residence at the time of the incident.
Investigation Underway
As of now, law enforcement has not announced any arrests related to the break-in. Details regarding the items stolen, the method of entry used by the perpetrators, or the number of individuals involved in the incident have not been released.
Investigators are currently examining a large white SUV believed to be linked to the burglary. Police have distributed an image of this vehicle and are seeking public assistance in identifying it.
The Tredyffrin Township Police Department stated that there have been no other reports of similar criminal activity in the surrounding vicinity. The Chester County District Attorney’s Office is providing support to the ongoing investigation.
Targeting Professional Athletes
This incident occurs amidst growing concerns regarding thieves specifically targeting the residences of professional athletes.
In a related development, federal prosecutors in February 2025 indicted seven Chilean nationals in connection with a series of burglaries at the homes of NFL and NBA players. Prosecutors contend that this group deliberately targeted athletes who were either traveling or participating in games, allegedly making off with over $2 million in cash, jewelry, luxury watches, and other high-value items.
Barkley's Eagles Career
Barkley, aged 29, is currently preparing for his upcoming third season with the Philadelphia Eagles. The team's training camp is scheduled to commence on July 28.
In 2025, he achieved 1,140 rushing yards, marking his second successive season surpassing the 1,000-yard mark with the franchise.
One year prior, Barkley had a remarkable season, earning the 2024 NFL Offensive Player of the Year award and contributing to Philadelphia's victory in Super Bowl LIX. He set an NFL record with 2,504 rushing yards combined across the regular season and postseason.
The Eagles secured Barkley with a two-year contract extension in March 2025, keeping him with the team through the 2028 season.
