Professional wrestling talent Joe Doering, a notable competitor for All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW) and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), has passed away at the age of 44, both organizations confirmed on Friday.
All Japan Pro Wrestling released a statement acknowledging his passing.
"Joe Doering, who had been battling a brain tumor, passed away at the age of 44," the promotion stated. "Upon learning of Joe Doering's passing, all players and staff of All Japan Pro Wrestling express their condolences and sincerely pray for his eternal peace."
Total Nonstop Action Wrestling also shared their sorrow:
"We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Joe Doering. A commanding in-ring performer and a wonderful person, he will never be forgotten. We offer our deepest condolences to his fans, his friends and his family."
The wider professional wrestling community expressed profound sadness across social media platforms upon hearing the news. Doering had been engaged in a prolonged struggle with brain cancer and had recently entered hospice care earlier in the week.
A Distinguished Career in the Ring
Doering embarked on his professional wrestling career in 2004, making his initial debut with Border City Wrestling. His journey saw him compete across various promotions, including appearances in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling starting in 2005 and All Japan Pro Wrestling from 2007. In 2010, he also spent time in WWE's developmental system, Florida Championship Wrestling, though he did not make it to the main WWE roster.
Throughout his impactful career, Doering achieved significant championship success. In All Japan Pro Wrestling, he secured the World Tag Team Championship on four occasions and was a two-time Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion. With TNA, he twice held the TNA World Tag Team Championship.
