The championship bout delivered a compelling main event, showcasing the prowess of both skilled competitors. Nemeth entered the contest aiming to dethrone Santana, who had maintained his reign as champion for nearly a year. Adding an early layer of intrigue, Nemeth’s brother was present at ringside, seemingly to influence the match dynamics.
Controversial Start and Intense Action
The match saw an immediate intervention when Ryan Nemeth, Nic’s brother, drew the referee’s attention, leading to his swift ejection from the ringside area. This momentary distraction proved critical, allowing Nic Nemeth to strike Santana with the Call Your Shot Gauntlet trophy. The impact left Santana visibly bleeding from the head, intensifying the physical toll of the encounter.
Following the controversial maneuver, Nemeth landed a superkick, but Santana quickly retaliated with his signature move, Spin the Block, though the subsequent pin attempt was unsuccessful. Nemeth's Second Reign Begins
This victory marks Nic Nemeth’s second tenure as the TNA World Champion. His initial championship reign commenced at Slammiversary 2022, where he emerged victorious from a challenging six-way encounter against formidable opponents including Moose, Josh Alexander, Steve Maclin, Frankie Kazarian, and Joe Hendry. Two years after his first triumph, Nemeth once again stands atop the TNA roster.
