New Jersey Woman Charged with Child Sexual Assault, Recording, and Snapchat Distribution

A New Jersey woman faces serious charges, including sexual assault and distributing child sexual abuse material, following her arrest earlier this week. Authorities allege Victoria Anne Cranmer, 25, not only sexually assaulted a child under the age of 13 but also recorded the abuse and disseminated at least one video through Snapchat.

Cranmer was taken into custody on Tuesday and has been charged with second-degree sexual assault, second-degree manufacturing of child sexual abuse material, third-degree possession of child sexual abuse material, and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

The investigation commenced on May 20, after the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency referred allegations to the Little Egg Harbor Police Department and the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit.

Allegations and Evidence Discovery

Court documents outline that the alleged 14-second video was recorded on May 6 within a bathroom of a Little Egg Harbor residence. At the time, the child was reportedly under Cranmer's care. Investigators were able to identify Cranmer through distinct tattoos visible in the recording, including one on her leg depicting breasts.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, detectives obtained search warrants for a cellphone allegedly used by Cranmer and her associated Snapchat account. Through these warrants, investigators reportedly uncovered additional videos saved within Snapchat's "Memories" feature.

Key Role of Former Roommate

The cellphone in question was initially purchased for Cranmer by a former roommate as a birthday present. After the roommate requested Cranmer vacate the residence, they asked her to leave the phone behind. While reviewing the device's contents, the roommate reportedly discovered the incriminating recording. The roommate then saved the video and subsequently turned the phone over to law enforcement officials, as stated in the affidavit.

Further Disturbing Details

Further details from court documents indicate that Cranmer was allegedly heard laughing during the assault in the video. At least one of the recordings was reportedly shared on the Snapchat platform.

Cranmer is currently being held without bail at the Ocean County Jail.
