During a morning news program, anchor Craig Melvin addressed viewers directly. "Just a quick note here," he stated, explaining, "The terms that we’re using here during our reporting, biological male, biological female, the high court put those terms in quotations in their decision and their dissent." He reiterated, "But just so you know, we’re using those terms from the decision itself, biological male, biological female."
White House correspondent Kelly O’Donnell had previously delivered a special report on the Supreme Court's decision to affirm state legislation prohibiting transgender girls and women from competing on school athletic teams, during which she had employed the "biological" terms on multiple occasions.
