Arizona Man Arrested After Allegedly Riding Naked Atop Moving Train in Colorado

An Arizona resident has been apprehended following allegations he illegally entered a Union Pacific locomotive and then rode on its roof while unclothed, as the train traversed northeastern Colorado. The peculiar incident reportedly left onlookers astonished before law enforcement officers took the individual into custody on Thursday.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office identified the man as Daniel Ray Ballance, hailing from Quartzsite, Arizona. Authorities allege Ballance forcibly entered the locomotive by breaking a window before ascending to its exterior while it was in motion.

Ballance now faces both felony and misdemeanor charges in connection with the event, according to officials.

Witnesses reportedly observed Ballance on top of the moving train without clothing before deputies intervened and made the arrest.

Law Enforcement Responds

The sheriff's office later released Ballance's mugshot, accompanied by a lighthearted message on their social media platform regarding the arrest.

For those of you who had the unfortunate experience of seeing this gentleman surfing naked on top of a moving locomotive yesterday, I want you to know that he was arrested on felony and misdemeanor charges.

According to the sheriff's office, Ballance subsequently informed deputies of his affection for "vodka, beer and playing the Banjo."

Daniel expressed his love of vodka, beer and playing the Banjo. Unfortunately, we had to separate him from those loves and the train ride. Instead, Daniel is spending some time at an all-expenses-paid stay in jail, where he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Ballance has been booked into the Sedgwick County Jail, facing the aforementioned felony and misdemeanor counts. Specific court documents detailing the exact charges were not immediately accessible.

Local reports indicated that Ballance allegedly gained entry to the Union Pacific locomotive by breaking a window before he climbed onto the moving vehicle.

Officials have not publicly disclosed the motivation behind the incident or whether any individuals inside the locomotive sustained injuries.
