Country music artist Morgan Wallen recently highlighted his Christian beliefs during a performance, appearing on stage with a Bible verse inscribed on a cast on his leg.
Social media footage and images from his Saturday concert at Clemson University’s Memorial Stadium in Clemson, South Carolina, showed the 33-year-old singer with a black cast prominently displaying "Joshua 2:21" in white lettering.
The Significance of Joshua 2:21
The King James Version of Joshua 2:21 states,
"And she said, According unto your words, so be it. And she sent them away, and they departed: and she bound the scarlet cord in the window."
This passage is derived from the Old Testament narrative of Rahab, a woman who concealed two Israelite spies prior to the conquest of Jericho. After receiving a pledge that her family would be protected, Rahab promptly secured a scarlet cord in her window, symbolizing their agreement.
Commentaries on this verse, such as those found on Bible Hub, indicate that the scarlet cord has traditionally been seen within Christian theology as an emblem of faith, redemption, and divine safeguarding. Furthermore, it is broadly interpreted as an anticipation of Christ's sacrificial act of redemption, given that it designated Rahab's household for salvation amidst Jericho's downfall.

Wallen has frequently discussed his Christian faith publicly. The acclaimed artist, whose father, Tommy Wallen, is a Southern Baptist pastor, and mother, Lesli Wallen, is an elementary school teacher, began his musical journey singing in church during his formative years before embarking on his professional career.
In an interview video released on Spotify in April 2025, preceding the debut of his collaboration with Post Malone, "I Ain't Comin' Back," Wallen articulated his deliberate choice to weave biblical themes into his songwriting.
He stated, "Me as a Christian, I think anytime that I can throw a little hint of that in my music, I'm always all for it."

After Hurricane Helene caused widespread destruction in Appalachia in 2024, Wallen inscribed Psalm 40:2 on the exposed framework of a home devastated by the storm, while its residents embarked on reconstruction. He also traveled to his home region of East Tennessee to visit flood survivors, coordinated a food collection drive, and contributed $500,000 towards recovery initiatives.
Following the tragic shooting at the Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks, California, in November 2018, Wallen articulated how he relied on his faith to process the devastating event.
During an interview, he elaborated, "I don’t have any answers, but in my personal opinion, I’m a person that has faith and I believe that a lot of people have neglected God."
He continued by noting, "We don’t put the Ten Commandments in school anymore. We just neglect everything and people act like the Ten Commandments is something so terrible. I mean, it’s a way to live. I think we all could agree on what they say."
He further added, "I believe in God. I believe that He’s real and I believe He has control over a lot of things and I think throughout history there has been a lot of countries that have turned their back on Him and the result is not great. Hopefully, we can get something figured out."
