A Kentucky congressional candidate became confrontational when pressed by a reporter regarding allegations made by a woman claiming to be his former girlfriend. The woman asserted that the candidate had offered her money and requested she sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) in connection with a wrongful termination dispute. She also claimed he boasted about an alleged sexual encounter with Representative Lauren Boebert, a Republican from Colorado, just weeks after his wife's passing.
Reporter's Inquiry and Candidate's Response
The reporter sought to provide the Kentucky Republican with an opportunity to publicly address these claims. However, the candidate, Massie, redirected the interaction, pulling out his phone to record the reporter.
"So let me ask you, I heard that you like gay porn," Massie stated while recording. "Is that true?"
As the reporter began to disengage from the escalating exchange, Massie persisted in questioning him, continuing to film the encounter.
"Are you a real loser?" he asked the reporter. "Are you with Fox? Is that a legitimate news organization? Is this what you do for a living?"
The interaction began with the reporter asking Massie to clarify the allegations from his former girlfriend, Cynthia West, a former congressional staffer. West had claimed that Massie offered her $5,000 to drop a lawsuit for wrongful termination against Representative Victoria Spartz, an Indiana Republican and an ally of Massie.
"It’s all false," Massie declared when asked about the allegations.
Massie was then questioned about the claims of an alleged sexual relationship with Representative Boebert. West had also asserted that Massie bragged to her about a sexual encounter with Boebert within weeks of his wife’s death.
"It’s all false," he reiterated when asked about the Boebert allegations.
Representative Boebert Addresses Claims
Representative Boebert also responded forcefully to the reporter when the claims from Massie’s alleged ex-girlfriend were brought up.
"F--- you, first of all!’ Boebert exclaimed. "If you're gonna bring me into this, like, the sexist stuff is like out of control. So there's your clickbait that you were looking for."
Massie further questioned the reporter's approach, asking, "When did you all become a tabloid? Seriously, dude."
These allegations against Massie emerged approximately one week before he was defeated in the Republican primary on May 19, in his bid to retain his House seat.
