A federal grand jury investigation into alleged financial offenses by Neville Roy Singham, linked to his financing of socialist, communist, and Marxist organizations, is receiving endorsements from key members of Congress.
Last April, Senator Jim Banks raised concerns about the Singham network, urging former Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate CodePink, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. CodePink, co-founded by Singham’s wife, Jodie Evans, has not responded to multiple requests for comment, nor has Evans.
Separately, Bessent reportedly informed Solomon that Goldman Sachs could face scrutiny for alleged involvement in funneling Singham's funds and encouraged cooperation with federal investigators.
Senator Banks, who serves on the Senate Banking Committee responsible for bank oversight and regulation, indicated that Goldman Sachs's cooperation is a positive development. However, he cautioned that Wall Street institutions should exercise greater vigilance when dealing with individuals connected to what he termed “our biggest enemy.”
"It sounds like Goldman wants to put this to bed," Banks stated. "They want to do their part to help the investigation. But Wall Street should know that you can't get away with helping our biggest enemy. You can't get away with helping the Chinese Communist Party through money funneled through tech billionaires like Neville Singham. You will be held accountable for that."
Concerns Over Foreign Influence and Funding
In his communication to Bondi, Senator Banks also highlighted concerns regarding CodePink's potential violation of the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA). This statute mandates that individuals or entities acting on behalf of foreign principals must register as foreign agents and publicly disclose their financial ties and relationships.
"CodePink has clearly become an agent of CCP influence in the United States. Despite activities and funding so blatant that even the New York Times acknowledged the organization’s activities ‘usually require’ groups to register under FARA, Code Pink has not registered with the DOJ," the letter asserted.
Lawmakers Call for Accountability
Several lawmakers have commented on the Department of Justice’s recent grand jury inquiry into Singham’s financial activities. Among them is Representative Pat Fallon, a Texas Republican who is seeking the chairmanship of the House Oversight Committee.
"My colleagues and I on the House Oversight Committee have been committed to dismantling the dark network of communist NGOs, which is why we sent a letter to the DOJ earlier this year urging them to expose these groups for what they really are. We cannot stop until we put an end to the communist threat facing our Republic here at home."
House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith, a Missouri Republican, who initiated an investigation into the Singham nonprofit network last year, expressed on social media that the grand jury investigation is long overdue.
"It’s about time he is brought to justice and he is held accountable for his ties to the CCP," Smith posted. For many years, critics, including Smith, have alleged that Singham has exploited the favorable tax status granted to tax-exempt nonprofit organizations to fund left-wing disruptions in various cities across the country.
Details of the Alleged Funding Network
Singham is accused of channeling millions of dollars into a network of nonprofit organizations that frequently organize activists for demonstrations nationwide, including protests against ICE and anti-Israel protests.
His financial contributions, reportedly routed through Goldman Sachs Donor Advised Philanthropy Fund For Wealth Management Inc., include an estimated $22.44 million directed to People's Forum Inc., a prominent hub for far-left activism in Manhattan. Additionally, at least $223 million and other forms of support have allegedly been provided to a global network of organizations.
