Actor Justin Baldoni and his wife, Emily Baldoni, have publicly addressed the legal dispute involving Blake Lively for the first time in two years. The couple shared a lengthy video on social media, detailing the "injustice" and "trauma" they experienced over the past two years.
"We have not spoken publicly for the better part of the last two years, and it’s not because we haven’t had anything to say," Justin Baldoni stated at the beginning of the video. He elaborated, "Because lord knows we have, but it just felt like every time we went to make a video like this, we wanted to speak, something was telling us not to. It just didn’t feel like the right time, and we were talking about it and feeling into it and praying about it."
Emily Baldoni affirmed their decision, saying, "This feels like the moment," and acknowledging, "There’s so much to say."
The Legal Proceedings
The legal conflict between Ms. Lively and Mr. Baldoni originated during the production of the 2024 film "It Ends With Us." Speculation about tensions first emerged during the movie's promotional tour, when Baldoni appeared to promote the film separately from Ms. Lively and other cast members.
In December 2024, Blake Lively filed a complaint, which escalated into a federal lawsuit. She alleged that Baldoni sexually harassed her on set and, after she voiced her concerns, orchestrated a campaign to damage her professional standing. Baldoni vehemently denied these accusations, responding with his own lawsuits against Lively, Ryan Reynolds, The New York Times, and other entities. His claims included defamation, extortion, and an alleged attempt to sabotage his career.
Over the subsequent year, both parties engaged in an intense and highly publicized legal battle. This included the public release of private text messages, behind-the-scenes video footage, the issuance of subpoenas, and multiple amendments to court filings. Instead of proceeding to trial, Ms. Lively and Mr. Baldoni reached a confidential settlement in May 2026. Neither party admitted wrongdoing, nor were damages paid by one to the other. The only unresolved matter before the court is Ms. Lively’s request for approximately $8 million to cover attorney’s fees and litigation costs, which Baldoni is currently contesting.
Processing "Injustice" and "Trauma"
In their recent video, Justin Baldoni mentioned that they would not be disclosing every detail, a sentiment his wife echoed. She expressed "immense gratitude for ... so many people and so many things that have happened to us."
"Gratitude has saved us," Justin added.
Emily Baldoni, however, emphasized that while they feel gratitude, it does not "negate the injustice and the pain that we have also felt in the last few years."
She continued, "We’ve had to wrestle with so many things and try to understand so many things, like how could something like this even happen? Let alone disguised as a fight for women. So much to unpack."
Emily shared that the couple has experienced "a lot of trauma," making it challenging for them to discuss the situation openly.
Justin stated, "We don’t even know if this is the right thing to say. We just know we need to share something." He further explained their previous silence: "What I will say is that there have been so many painful things that have been spoken into existence over the last couple of years. That created so much noise, and we didn’t want to add to the noise. So we just wanted to let the justice system run its course."
Emily concluded this point by asserting that "the truth and the facts have spoken for themselves."
A Journey of Healing and Faith
The couple, who married in 2013, provided an update to their followers on their lives two years after the legal proceedings began.
"We are healing," Justin affirmed. "If you’ve ever been through something traumatic, you know that healing isn’t linear. It looks different every day. We have had to rethink for ourselves what is real, and what matters. It’s this. It’s our family, it’s our friends, it’s our community, who have been their for us, it’s our faith."
He noted that the challenging experience has brought him and Emily "closer, more devoted, and steadfast in our faith than we’ve ever been."
Justin revealed that Emily prayed for "people would have discernment," and he extended his thanks to their supporters.
"So many of you had discernment, and you used your intuition, and you trusted that. You have given your time to fight for us. Thank you does not feel like enough. But we’re here, in large part, because of so many of you, and all of our friends and family," Justin expressed.
Reflections and Future Steps
To conclude their video, Justin shared what he considered the most significant lesson learned from their journey. "When God presses the reset button, and everything else is stripped away, that’s when love shows up," he remarked.
Emily added, "And it did. There’s so much more to say. The time will come. But for now, we are going to focus on continuing the healing and hanging out with our kiddos and enjoying life."
While the direct courtroom dispute between Mr. Baldoni and Ms. Lively has largely concluded, this saga remains one of the most discussed legal events in Hollywood. Its implications extend to the film "It Ends With Us," the high-profile individuals involved, and broader discussions surrounding workplace conduct and public reputation management.
