Jane Seymour Reveals One Workout Is Off-Limits at 75 Due to Her 'A-Type' Nature

At 75, actress Jane Seymour maintains a decades-long fitness routine rooted in movement, moderation, and a keen understanding of her personal limits.

Jane Seymour Reveals One Workout Is Off-Limits at 75 Due to Her 'A-Type' Nature

Actress Jane Seymour, at 75, has revealed a unique aspect of her fitness regimen, confessing there's one popular workout she intentionally avoids.

Seymour attributes her enduring vitality to a consistent routine she has embraced for decades, emphasizing movement, moderation, and a clear understanding of her physical boundaries.

The star of "Harry Wild" explains that she steers clear of yoga. She humorously describes herself as "way too A-type," suggesting she would inevitably try to outperform everyone else in the class.

"Actually, I go back to my ballet roots. I do a full barre. I eat a Mediterranean diet, usually. I stay away from starch, but not completely, because I never want to think I'm on a diet. I drink very moderately. When I'm filming, not at all," Seymour shared about her lifestyle choices.

For Seymour, the key to sustained activity isn't about engaging in every popular new workout; rather, it's about recognizing her own capabilities and limitations.

A Unique Approach to Staying Active

Seymour elaborated on her self-awareness regarding group fitness. "I've had to actually tell myself that when I go into a group class, especially something like yoga, that I have to tell myself I am not going to win, because I'm way too A-type..."

She continued, illustrating her competitive streak: "I want to win... Which means that I can never have done yoga, and I will decide that I could turn myself into the pretzel like that person. No. No, I cannot. I'll end up in the hospital or something, so... My approach is to try everything, but do it the way that I know I can. So, I listen to my body."

This mindful approach has been instrumental in fueling Seymour's seemingly boundless energy, a trait well-known to her long-time friend and former "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman" co-star, Joe Lando.

Enduring Energy and Professional Passion

More than thirty years after captivating audiences as one of television's most beloved on-screen couples, Seymour and Lando have reunited for the fifth season of "Harry Wild." The new season, which promises expanded mysteries, heightened stakes, and a fresh character poised to add complexity to Harry's romantic life, is available on Acorn TV.

Seymour not only portrays the lead character, Harriet "Harry" Wild, but also holds an executive producer credit for the acclaimed series.

Their professional reunion is built upon a friendship that has successfully navigated the challenges of Hollywood over the decades.

"Wow, I mean, that's a really interesting question," Seymour reflected on their bond. "We worked together for seven years and we kind of fell for one another in the pilot, rather famously, for a brief time. So, we knew each other really, really well, better than on screen."

The two eventually concluded that their relationship thrived best as a friendship. However, Lando notes that one characteristic of Seymour has remained unchanged since their days on "Dr. Quinn."

"This inexhaustible flipping energy," Lando remarked. "She just goes, goes and goes."

Comparing Seymour's drive to the Energizer Bunny, Lando recalled filming demanding production days when the actress was pregnant with twins.

"45, pregnant with twins. We're doing 12-hour-plus days sometimes," he recounted. "I'd start feeling myself getting a little worn, and I would look over at her… suck it up, get out there and do the job. And that hasn't changed about her."

Seymour attributes her remarkable stamina to a simple, yet profound, source: her deep love for her profession.

When questioned about the origin of her legendary endurance, Seymour's response was immediate. "I know people keep asking me why, and I just say, because I love what I do," she stated. "I just do, you know, and then when I stop, I sleep."

The fifth season of AMC Global Media's "Harry Wild" is available for exclusive streaming on Acorn TV.
