Dunkin's Commemorative Eagle Cup Ignites Collector Enthusiasm Ahead of America's 250th Anniversary

Dunkin' is commemorating America's 250th anniversary with the introduction of a limited-edition eagle-themed cup, featuring a distinctive clear base topped with a sculpted eagle lid. This special release aims to infuse a sense of celebration into every beverage.

"Whether you're sipping a vibrant Refresher or a classic iced coffee, this collectible turns every drink into a celebration," Dunkin' stated in a press release.

The unique cup quickly captured widespread attention online. Even prior to its official appearance in stores, the company acknowledged that customers "may have already spotted the eagle cup taking flight across social media," indicating its rapid pre-launch virality.

Online Enthusiasm and Resale Market Activity

The enthusiasm for the eagle cup was palpable across various social media platforms. An Instagram user, @rebeldealz, shared a video documenting their trip to Dunkin' to acquire the item, captioning it, "Run to Dunkin' because today is the day!" Many other users responded to the post, confirming they had purchased multiple cups.

Some individuals openly discussed the potential for resale. One user commented, "I also got 3 because they are already reselling on eBay for 50 bucks," highlighting the cup's immediate value on secondary markets.

The new eagle cup also provided a sense of redemption for some collectors. A discussion thread on Reddit, which previously focused on customers missing out on Dunkin's limited-edition Barbie pink pineapple cup earlier in the summer, saw many users expressing joy over successfully obtaining the eagle version. One Reddit member recounted their experience: "When the pineapple cup dropped, my job had me away from my usual Dunkin' (or any Dunkin' really), and every location I tried after work were long sold out. My job did the same thing to me today, but I managed to get to my morning Dunkin' spot today and snag one. Hurray."

Patriotic Promotions and Summer Flavors

Dunkin' has embraced the cup's launch with playful marketing. An Instagram post from the company drew significant engagement, accumulating 21,000 likes and over 400 comments. The post humorously compared facts about a real eagle with attributes of the commemorative cup.

"Dunkin' eagle cup can be spotted across any room," the Massachusetts-based company wrote, juxtaposing it with an image of a bald eagle and the text, "The bald eagle can spot prey from over two miles away."

One Instagram commenter humorously replied, "Thankfully, I read this before poking my straw into a bald eagle. Whew," reflecting the lighthearted tone of the campaign.

Beyond the collectible cup, Dunkin' has introduced a special "star-spangled lineup of limited-time beverages and bakery treats," drawing inspiration from "the flavors, colors and traditions of summer's biggest holiday," as announced by the company. Additionally, an "Americana-themed summer merch collection" is available.

Anthony Epter, Vice President of Menu Innovation at Dunkin', emphasized the broader celebratory effort in a press release. "Dunkin' is bringing the energy of America's 250th birthday to every part of the menu," Epter stated. "Inspired by Fourth of July traditions, we've created a lineup of beverages, bakery treats and the collectible eagle cup that make every Dunkin' run a little more festive and every sip a celebration."

The "Star-Spangled Sips and Summer Flavors" collection promises "nostalgic flavors, colorful toppings and indulgent twists." This includes various fruity lemonades and a selection of flavored frozen coffees designed for the summer season.

Among the featured drinks is the Dazzleberry Coolatta, a blue-raspberry-flavored concoction finished with whipped cream and "patriotic sprinkles," adding to the festive theme.

The bakery selection also reflects the celebratory spirit, with limited-time doughnuts and Munchkins (doughnut holes) adorned in red, white, and blue decorations.

Specific bakery items include the Rocket Pop Donut, which features a star-shaped yeast shell filled with Rocket Pop-flavored cream, topped with blue icing and a stars-and-stripes sprinkle blend. Another offering, the Stars & Stripes Donut, is dipped in blue icing and finished with festive red, white, and blue sprinkles.

Pricing and Availability

The limited-edition eagle cup is available nationwide for $10.99, while supplies last. Each Dunkin' location is reportedly stocked with 20 of these collectible items, and every purchase of the eagle cup includes a medium beverage.
