Donald Trump Jr. asserted on Thursday that newly unsealed evidence from the preliminary hearing in the murder case of Charlie Kirk has decisively addressed and put to rest various "conspiracy theories" surrounding his death.
Trump Jr., who maintained a long-standing friendship with Kirk, attended the courtroom proceedings this week in Provo, Utah. He observed the arguments and reviewed the evidence presented against Tyler Robinson, the individual accused of the killing.
"Based on everything that I saw in that courtroom, it's very clear to me that Tyler Robinson did this," Trump Jr. stated during a televised interview.
Key Evidence Emerges in Preliminary Hearing
Robinson, 23, stands accused of the fatal shooting of Kirk, 31, at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025. A conviction could lead to the death penalty. The preliminary hearing commenced on Monday, with prosecutors working to establish probable cause sufficient for the case to proceed to a full trial on multiple charges.
Testimony presented on Thursday revealed that Robinson allegedly confessed to the killing in text messages sent to his roommate shortly after the incident, reportedly stating he "had enough of his hatred."
"This stuff is very cut-and-dry at this point," Trump Jr. remarked, emphasizing the clarity of the evidence. He further noted, "The DNA evidence, the fact that… he turned himself in… to me, it puts so much of this at rest."
Questions Raised Over Event Security
Beyond the direct evidence, Trump Jr., a frequent speaker at Turning Point USA events, expressed concern regarding the security measures in place at Kirk’s Utah Valley University event.
"The biggest question in my mind at this point is not whether Tyler Robinson did this, or if it was some people from a foreign land, or another planet — it was, why were there only six police officers active at a major event on a university campus?" he inquired.
He highlighted that Turning Point USA college campus events typically draw a significantly larger law enforcement presence, often attracting "thousands" of attendees. "These are big events," Trump Jr. explained. "I've done 100 of them with Charlie Kirk on college campuses all over the place... That there wasn't an all-hands-on-deck kind of operation to prevent this very thing from happening is truly scary."
Trump Jr. suggested that public sentiment regarding Kirk’s death, which he once perceived as a "50–50" issue, has now shifted to "90–10" in favor of Robinson's guilt following the unsealed evidence. While acknowledging a potential initial skepticism, he dismissed lingering "conspiracy theories" surrounding the tragic event.
Prosecutors are scheduled to present additional evidence during Friday’s session. A trial date for the case has not yet been set.
