Collin Gosselin Appears to Address Mother Kate Amid Reports of Her Distress Over His Upcoming Memoir

Collin Gosselin recently shared a subtle message directed at his mother, Kate Gosselin, weeks after announcing his plans to release a memoir detailing his experiences growing up in the public eye on reality television.

Over the weekend, Collin, 22, posted a screenshot of a New York Post headline on his Instagram stories. The headline read, "Kate Gosselin 'spiraling' ahead of estranged son Collin's bombshell memoir: 'She knows it's about to hit the fan.'" He deliberately obscured his mother's face in the image.

Accompanying the headline, Collin also shared a comment from a follower that stated, "What's done in darkness will always come to light," as reported by People magazine.

Kate Gosselin's Alleged Reaction to Memoir

Kate, 51, is reportedly experiencing significant distress regarding potential revelations in her estranged son's forthcoming book, titled "In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood."

A source conveyed to Daily Mail that Kate was completely unaware of the memoir's development. The source also highlighted that "Collin hasn’t spoken to his mother since she abandoned him in an institution as a young child."

The insider further explained, "She didn’t expect any of this to ever come out. Now she’s spiraling because she knows it’s about to hit the fan."

Reality Television Background and Family History

The family gained prominence through the TLC series "Jon & Kate Plus 8," which aired from 2007 to 2009. Following the couple's divorce, the program was re-titled "Kate Plus 8" in 2010 and continued until 2017.

Collin was reportedly diagnosed with a behavioral disorder. When he was 12 years old, Kate sent him to the Fairmount Behavioral Health System, a psychiatric hospital located in Philadelphia.

During an episode of "Kate Plus 8," Kate addressed the situation, stating, "I was not able, with my own resources here, to meet his needs." The show continued to feature the other seven children during this period.

Jon Gosselin, Collin's father, claimed he was unaware of his son's placement in a behavioral institution until he noticed Collin's absence during a family lunch.

At that time, Kate held full custody of the children and maintained that a court order exempted her from having to inform her estranged husband of Collin's whereabouts.

Disputed Claims and Family Impact

While Kate has reportedly asserted to others that there are "zero facts" supporting Collin's claims, it is understood that he possesses "the evidence to back everything up."

The insider commented on the situation, stating, "Kate can’t stop this book from coming out but I have no doubt she wishes she could."

Collin's sextuplet siblings—Aaden, Alexis, Hannah, Joel, and Leah—along with his twin sisters, Cara and Madelyn, were also reportedly surprised by the news of the memoir.

The source indicated that the siblings allegedly do not "really know the truth of what happened to him" beyond what their mother had told them.

Collin's Journey to Tell His Story

Earlier this month, Collin announced that his tell-all book is scheduled for an October release. The announcement was accompanied by a childhood photograph depicting his mother with her hand covering his mouth.

For a long time, I wasn’t sure I’d ever tell this story. Growing up, millions of people watched my life on television. People felt like they knew me. They knew my family. They watched me grow up. But there was so much they never saw. For years, I kept those experiences to myself. Some because I was afraid. Some because I didn’t think anyone would believe me. And some because I just wasn’t ready.
Writing this book forced me to revisit some of the hardest moments of my life, but it also gave me something I’ve been searching for for a long time: my voice. This isn’t the story people think they know. It’s the story I’ve lived.
