New Orleans Saints stalwart Cam Jordan is reportedly preparing for what he anticipates will be his final season in the National Football League, aiming to conclude his distinguished 16-year career on the highest possible note.
Jordan, who recently re-signed with the Saints for one additional year following a productive 2025 campaign that saw him record 10½ sacks, has indicated that the upcoming season is expected to be his last, though he has not explicitly used the term "retirement."
Anticipated Final Season
Reflecting on his current physical state, Jordan shared his perspective on his readiness. "Do I feel good? Absolutely. Do I feel better not being part of OTAs? Physically, yes," he stated, suggesting a strategic approach to his pre-season preparations.
Known for his forthrightness and exceptional skills as a defensive end – from pressuring quarterbacks to setting the edge – Jordan understands his role within the Saints' defensive scheme. He has expressed confidence in his ability to adapt, stating he "can do whatever needs to be done" for the team.
Under the guidance of first-year head coach Kellen Moore and defensive coordinator Brandon Staley, Jordan's contributions last year, including playing from a two-point stance (an upright position without hands on the ground at the line of scrimmage), proved effective, as evidenced by his performance metrics.
The Ultimate Dream: A Super Bowl Title
Despite a career filled with personal achievements, Jordan's competitive drive remains strong, fueled by a desire to impact the team's success at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. His ultimate ambition for this final push is to realize a long-held dream.
"The ultimate dream is to win a Super Bowl," Jordan remarked. "You go into childhood, coming out of childhood, like, ‘Man, I want to be just like the greats.’ For some reason, we accumulate the idea of success in football to winning a Super Bowl because it’s the ultimate team sport. That’s the ultimate team dream."
Since being drafted 24th overall by the Saints in the 2011 NFL Draft out of the Cal Bears' system, Jordan has remained a loyal fixture in Louisiana. He has amassed 132 career sacks, placing him 17th on the all-time NFL list, a testament to his consistent excellence on the field.
Cementing a Hall of Fame Legacy
For his final season in the black and gold, Jordan has set a specific statistical target: achieving enough sacks to mark his eighth season with double-digit totals. Reaching this milestone would elevate him into the top 10 all-time for sacks in NFL history.
Regarding his long and distinguished career, Jordan emphasized his unwavering commitment. "You look at year 16 — this is who I am. This is my body of work. It has never changed," he affirmed.
Jordan firmly believes his credentials for the Pro Football Hall of Fame are already established, suggesting he could compose his induction speech for Canton, Ohio, even before playing his anticipated final season. The only question that remains is whether that speech will include the coveted title of "Super Bowl champion."
He articulated his reflections on personal achievements, underscoring why the Super Bowl remains his singular focus. "I was sitting there this offseason, and I was like, ‘Man, what is it I want to accomplish?’ A Super Bowl. Personally speaking, I’ve done it all. All-Pro, Pro Bowls. Hell, I put together a Pro Bowl-esque season last year."
As he approaches his 37th birthday this Friday, Jordan is poised to dedicate his full effort to one last season, hoping to close this chapter of his life with a championship.
