The lineup of ten initial players for the 2026 WNBA All-Star Game, scheduled for July 25 in Chicago, has been finalized, prominently featuring Indiana Fever standout Caitlin Clark. Notably, she is joined by two of her teammates, marking significant representation for the franchise.
Fever Trio Makes History
Fever colleagues Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell have also secured starting positions for the highly anticipated event. This marks the third consecutive year that Clark, Boston, and Mitchell will participate in the All-Star Game together. However, this occasion is particularly noteworthy as it is the first time all three have been voted in as starters. Boston previously earned a starting nod in 2023 and 2025, while Clark has been a starter for the past two years. Mitchell's selection represents her inaugural All-Star start, following her appearance as a replacement player in 2025.
The selection process for the starters involved a weighted vote: fan ballots accounted for 50%, while current WNBA players and a dedicated media panel each contributed 25% of the total. Each player and media panelist submitted one ballot, comprising selections for four guards and six frontcourt players.
Other Teams and Star Players
The Indiana Fever is not the sole team to boast multiple players among the starting roster. The Dallas Wings will see guard Paige Bueckers and forward Jessica Shepard take the court as starters. Similarly, Natasha Howard and Olivia Miles from the Minnesota Lynx have also been named to the starting lineup in Chicago.
Rounding out the ten starters are several other league luminaries: A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces, a four-time league MVP; Breanna Stewart, the two-time MVP from the New York Liberty; and Gabby Williams, representing the Golden State Valkyries.
New Format for Team Selection
This year's All-Star Game will introduce a revised format for team formation. Since 2018, with the exception of the 2020 season impacted by COVID-19, the two players receiving the most votes typically served as team captains, responsible for drafting their respective rosters.
For the 2026 event, WNBA legends Cynthia Cooper and Teresa Weatherspoon will assume roles as general managers. They will be tasked with selecting their teams from the 22 All-Stars chosen to participate in Chicago. This new approach is part of the league's celebration of its 30th anniversary.
Caitlin Clark's Impressive Season
Caitlin Clark’s inclusion as a starter was widely anticipated, given her outstanding performance this season. She is currently averaging a career-best 21.2 points per game, placing her fifth among all WNBA players. Furthermore, she ranks second in the league for assists, with an average of 8.2 per game, continuing her trend of establishing new WNBA records.
Earlier this year, Clark achieved a historic milestone by becoming the fastest player in WNBA history to accumulate over 1,000 career points and 500 career assists. These significant accomplishments, among others, are particularly notable as she navigated various injuries during her sophomore season in 2025.
With the initial ten starters now confirmed, the announcement regarding the 12 reserve players is expected at a subsequent date.
